My cat got jealous of me watching Naruto on my laptop one day and nudged it off the bed. The touch screen cracked clean across, which made doing anything extremely difficult. So I wandered around for a month or so trying to find a local place that could fix it to no avail. Ended up sending it back to the manufacturer to get the screen replaced and got it back; now I fear for my laptops life.
Anyway, back in May I went on a trip to England and it was WONDERFUL. I went by myself, and I definitely recommend to everyone you have to at least travel on your own once in your lifetime. I met interesting characters and basked in the lovely accents and had awesome adventures in the mere week I was there. I need to return there again and again in the years to come. I loved it there. I loved the architecture and I loved the history and the food and the people and -of course- the art.
I got to see a couple galleries while I was there, one of them being the National Gallery and I was brought nearly to tears when I stood in front of Van Gogh's Sunflowers. He's my most favourite artist and to be so close to such a famous piece of his was absolutely amazing. I spent around 6 hours in that gallery, listening to my audio tour and learning and just being completely inspired. There were so many artists just sitting in the gallery recreating famous pieces and artwork that they liked on canvas or simply sketching them out in their sketchbooks and I want to return one day to do the same. It felt like a pilgrimage for my artistic side.
(I also got to she Shakespeare's Globe that was a total pilgrimage for my acting side and it brought back the memories of my acting days and I decided I needed to return to the Globe one day too to see a play there).
I've also just returned from a convention weekend where I got to get my pictures taken and wandered the dealers room and artists alley and did a panel and attended panels and it was quite wonderful too. I have been simply preoccupied with a wonderful, adventurous year this year and I've been sketching and painting quite a bit, however I have not been posting anything as I somehow forgot I was part of this community.
But I have returned and hopefully I can get my tablet wire not to hate me so I can return to writing Alhan: Return of the Gods, which I miss dearly, and show you other art and so forth.
I hope everyone is having a swell day and hope your week is lovely!
